The British aircraft carrier, HMS Ark Royal, flagship of the Royal Navy, has been cast aside under the Governments Strategic Defence Cuts.

This vessel, perhaps more than any other, symbolises the might and majesty of the Royal Navy.

From Drake to Admiral Lord Nelson, from the Russian Convoys and the Battle of the Atlantic, the hunt for the Bismarck to the Falklands Conflict, no ships name in the history of the Royal Navy conjures up more patriotism and admiration than Ark Royal!

The fate of Ark Royal is virtually sealed already. She will almost certainly follow the fate of her sister ship, HMS Invincible, and find herself being un-ceremoniously cut-up for scrap in some far flung place, such as Turkey!

But the British people have had enough! They are tired of their history being denied to them, they are fed up of their military being stripped to the bone; HMS Ark Royal must be saved as a tribute and memorial to the generations of British sailors who have fought, and died, for their Country.

Please pledge now, anything you can afford, to save Ark Royal and tell the British Government that we will not have our heritage lost for future generations.

The attitude of the British maritime preservation lobby is : 'If it's wood, it's good! If it's steel, send it to the mill!'
